Zagreb, 12th June 2007 – On the occasion of the celebration of 15 years of the bank's operation, a festive meeting of the Supervisory Board was held in Hrvatska banka za obnovu i razvitak that was attended by Dr Ivo Sanader, Croatian Prime Minister.. The festive meeting of the Supervisory Board of HBOR was held exactly on the day when the bank was established 15 years ago.. Today's meeting was attended by Dr Ivo Sanader, Croatian Prime Minister, Mr.. Ivan Šuker, Minister of Finance and the President of the Supervisory Board of HBOR, members of the Supervisory Board and by Ms.. Martina Dalić, the State Secretary.. On this occasion, the importance of HBOR's role as the state development and export bank was emphasized.. The Bank was established primarily with the objective to reconstruct war-devastated infrastructure and industry facilities, but already in the first year of the bank's operation, loans were also approved for the promotion and development of entrepreneurship.. In its 15 years of existence, from Hrvatska kreditna banka za obnovu (Croatian Credit Bank for Reconstruction) as the bank was called in 1992, until today, HBOR has provided financial support to some 35 thousand economic projects in the amount of  ...   areas of special state concern and on the islands, as well as for the development of agriculture.. During 2006, HBOR provided support to Croatian exporters with over HRK 3.. 5 billion via its programmes for export finance and export credit insurance against political and commercial risks.. So far, loans in the amount of about HRK 13 billion were approved for export finance, whereas insured export transactions amounted over HRK 4 billion.. "All our programmes that have been implemented so far are the result of taking into consideration the objections and suggestions of Croatian businessmen, on the basis of which we introduced new programmes and adjusted the existing ones for the purpose of providing better quality services.. We were led by our orientation towards our clients in the past fifteen years, and I am convinced that this task will be successfully performed in the future as well" said Mr.. Anton Kovačev, the President of the Managing Board of HBOR and introduced a new programme – Mezzanine Finance Programme.. The programme is intended for promoting investments into projects of large development possibilities.. From the risk assessment point of view, this manner of finance pertains to a more risky group.. This is exactly one of the reasons why HBOR, by sticking to its development role in the Croatian economy, decided to introduce this programme..

HBOR creates new opportunities for exporters - co-operation with Arab banks and businessmen.. Zagreb, 3rd April 2007 - Memorandum of Understanding between Hrvatska banka za obnovu i razvitak (HBOR) and Union de Banques Arabes et Françaises (UBAF) from France signed today in Zagreb is a confirmation of good relationship between the two banks and of the interest of Croatian exporters and Arab businessmen in establishing stronger business links.. The co-operation between HBOR and UBAF was initiated in September 2006 on the occasion of HBOR’s 5th International Conference on Export Promotion that took place in Dubrovnik, in which a representative of UBAF participated.. In November 2006, representatives of the Management Board of UBAF organised, with support from HBOR, about fifteen meetings with Croatian exporters interested in co-operation with the entities from the area of North Africa, especially Libya.. As a result, several Croatian companies have already established contacts in that area.. Building on the successful co-operation and the wish for its continuation, it has been agreed to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between UBAF and HBOR.. Zagreb, 10th March 2006 – Hrvatska banka za obnovu i razvitak signed the Agreement on Financing and Modernisation of the Fishing Fleet with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development.. The President of the Managing Board of HBOR, Mr.. Anton Kovačev and Ministers Petar Čobanković, Božidar Kalmeta and Branko Vukelić signed the Agreement on Agent Transactions for the implementation of the Model of Financing of Reconstruction and Modernisation of the Fishing Fleet today.. The signing ceremony was also attended by Mr.. Ivan Šuker, Minister of Finance.. By this agreement, HBOR and the respective ministries will implement the Government’s decision on the promotion of modernisation of the fishing fleet reached in 2005.. For and on behalf of  ...   the state would be 30 percent, of fishermen 10 percent, whereas the remaining 60 percent of funds would be provided through loans of HBOR and of commercial banks.. So far, HBOR has approved 19 loans for the reconstruction and modernisation of the fishing fleet.. By today's agreement, HBOR takes over the organisation of the overall project financing, which will contribute to the fastness and efficiency of its implementation.. *** The model is a constituent part of the „National Programme for the Increase in Production and Consumption of Fish in the Republic of Croatia“ that has been developed in line with the Strategy of Agriculture and Fishery Development in the Republic of Croatia.. Thus, the legal framework related to the Global Environmental Facility Trust Fund Grant has been completed, all agreements became effective and proceeds available.. Ms.. Marina Matulović Dropulić, Minister of Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction attended the signing ceremony, too..
